I am going to tell about a times I had to work with a small group of kids.

I have had a few different opportunities to work with group of kids.  In high school I was on many different sports teams and we would spend days doing clinics for the kids.  We would have to work together to teach the kids to do simple skills in the sports such as dribbling, shooting, passing, etc. They would all learn the skills at different levels and speeds so it was our job to keep helping the slower kids but pushing the faster learning kids.

Another opportunity that I have had with kids is through church activities.  When I was one of the older girls in my Young Womens classes we would have to work with the girls that were younger than us and to help them have a smooth transition into their new classes.

When I substitute teach it is important to "spread myself thin" over the entire classroom so that I can help all the students equally and make sure that they all are understanding the things being taught. We have to use our best abilities to help all the students in their own ways to understand what we are teaching them.  Having a good attitude and positive outlook on their education can make all the difference in a student wanting to learn and be eager to go to school each day.

What does a teacher do all day?

I am a substitute teacher right now for my job.  So I have an inside view on what a teacher goes through each day, in my own way.  There is a lot more to it than people might realize.  I have my day planned out, but for a teacher they have to come up with things to teach for the entire week and year.  I have had many times where we have extra time, so I have to come up with my own things to fill up the time.  It can be very difficult to think of entertaining things for 25 first graders on the spot.  I know for a fact that teachers are constantly planning things for their students.

The days are busy and there is always a child needing the teachers help with their assignment.  The best ways of teaching that I have seen, is keeping the students in a routine schedule everyday.  They are able to stay on task and understand the things they are doing better.  Teachers are constantly teaching.  I think a lot of people don't give them enough credit for how much learning goes on in one day at a school.  If teachers did not put any effort into their lessons there would be no point to school.  I have a lot of respect for teachers and see how busy their days are of constantly teaching and planning for the week.
